Trinity Baptist Fellowship is an outreach of Chisago Lakes Baptist Church of Chisago City and Sunrise Bible Church of Sunrise, Minnesota. Their goal in sending a missionary pastor to Pine City is to establish a Baptist witness that will strongly emphasize the historic theological doctrines of past generations.

Pastor Dennis Eng and his family recently relocated to Pine City to head the new Trinity Baptist Fellowship. Pastor Eng served as senior pastor of First Baptist Church in Marshall, MN., for the past 10 years. Prior to that, he was assistant pastor at Chisago Lakes Baptist church for four years. He is a graduate of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MN.

Pastor Eng is the grandson of the late Walter and Bertha Eng of rural Pine City. I have many fond memories of spending my Christmas and summer vacations on the farm east of Rock Creek in the 1960s and 1970s. It's wonderful to become a part of the Pine City community once again.

Numbers of families from Pine City have been traveling to Sunrise Bible Church for the past several years, while praying for a new witness to begin locally. Chisago Lakes Baptist Church has agreed to financially join hands with Sunrise Bible Church for this endeavor. The two churches have a combined attendance of more than 500 on most Sundays.

Laying the foundation for this new witness is Pastor George Cable, who served Chisago Lakes Baptist Church for 21 years and then came out of retirement six years ago to pastor Sunrise Bible Church, a Baptist church by affiliation.

Prior to coming to Minnesota in 1975, Pastor Cable labored in starting new churches in Wisconsin. He was involved in the forming of 14 new Baptist churches in that state during 25 years of service. He was awarded a Doctor of Divinity degree from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College of Owatonna, MN., in recognition of this work in church planting.

It was under Pastor Cable's ministry that Pastor Eng served as the assistant pastor at Chisago City. Partnering with Pastor Cable in overseeing the new work is Pastor Matthew Morrell, senior pastor of Chisago Lakes Baptist Church. Chisago Lakes Baptist Church has commissioned Pastor Eng as its missionary church planter.

Believing that the great doctrines of the faith have been minimized in this generation, Trinity Baptist Fellowship will have a thorough training program in Biblical teaching for all ages. The church will use a hymnal rich in theology to further teach these great truths. Pastor Eng's wife, Stephanie, is an accomplished musician and will assist with the new church's music ministry.
